Potato digging is in full swing, but the crops are much below tbe average, the percentage of good saleable potatoes being very small. The Kairanga County Council has commenced its duties with the laudable intention of doing business as prom ply as possible. Members recognise ihat tbeir office is likely to prove no fine cure, and with a view of saving time at the monthly meetings it was decided yesterday, in the case of deputations waiting upon them, that the desire of the deputation should be placed before the meeting, and tbe members comprising it should tben withdraw, tbe Council communicating its decision at a later period in tbe day.
