Telegrapb.Press Association. Copyright. London, June 9. Lord Kitchener reports that 2500 rifles were surrendered on Saturday and Sunday. The Cape rebels sent in 448, the remainder were chiefly from De Wet's followers. The men cheered the King heartily. Corporal V. Fogherty \ Tenth New Zealanders) died at Newcastle of pneumonia. Lieut. Robert McKeich (Ninth New Zealanders), was killed at Nitneugt, near Vereeniging, on the 4th. Lieut. Henry Kayne, of the same regiment, was slightly wounded. At a banquet given at Johannesburg, Lord Milner pleaded for a truce in political strife, and trusted that all would develop a wider patriotism, embracing an ideal world - wide Empire.
