The Feilding Star. OROUA & KIWITEA COUNTIES GAZETTE Published Daily. MONDAY, JUNE 9, 1902. PUBLIC SPIRIT.
No greater evidence could be given of the practical common sense of the burgesses in the towns and the settlers in the country than the manner in which they propose to expend the funds placed at their disposal by the Government, or raised among themselves, for the purpose of celebrating the Coronation of tbe King. In every case yet reported it has been decided to devote the money to some useful public work, so that not only will it be a permanent monument of the loyalty of the colonists, but will also be of some real utility to future generations. What is remarkable in this connection is that the public bodies, or committees, appointed for the purpose have been so unanimous, and apparently actuated by one common feeling ; a desire for the common good as disDlayed in good works.
