Average prices — Canterbury, Bf d ; Dunedin, Southland, and Welllington Meat Export Co., B§d ; other North Island mutton, 3£d. Lamb is quiet; Canterbury brand, s£d ; other New Zealand lamb, sd. The beef market is excited and firm. Supplies of American chilled beef are small, and bidding likely to decrease. Stocks of New Zealand on hand are light ; New Zealand hinds, s£d; fores, 4£d. The market for butter and cheese is good— butter, 105s ; cheese, 545. Hemp is steady — good fair Wellington, spot, £87 ; April - June shipment, £33 10s ; stock, 177 tons against 362 last year. Cocksfoot is quiet, quotation normal —New Zealand 171 b standard, 42s to 455."
