FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
Telegraph. Press Association Copyright Woodville, This Day. There was a fatal accident at the Mangatainoka railway station last night. Chas. Spanger was standing on the edge of the platform when the 8.30 train came in. He suddenly lurched forward and was struck by the cowcatcher of the engine. When he was picked up he was quite dead. His neck was broken and he also had a gash on the side of his head. The deceased who was a cabinetmaker, had only one leg.
