44 BOERS KILLED & WOUNDED. COMMANDANT POTGIETER KILLED. London. April 14. Geueral lan Hamilton killed fortyfour Boers, including Commandant Potgieter, capturing fifty-four, and two guns and a pom-pom. General Hamilton's force included General Kekewich's and Major-General Prawlinson's columns. The Yeomanry, Scottish Horse, and Mounted Constabulary fought admirably. Captain Salter, Lieut. Bull, and five men were killed, and fifty-two wounded. General Kekewich captured the guns of Colenbrander's columns, and defeated General Beyers, inflicting one hundred and six casualties. Captain Coode and two men of the West Riding regiment were killed and fourteen wounded, and some were captured at Saltfontein, where they formed part of a strong patrol which the enemy attacked in overwhelming numbers. Commandant DeVilliers and seven hundred rebels at Douglas, Cape Colony, have asked Lord Kitchener's terms of surrender.
