KIMBOLTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of the Kimbolton Sports Committee on Wednesday evening, at which Mr Matheson presided, the balance-sheet was submitted, and show a credit balance of £17 from this year's meeting, exclusive of a balance of £17 carried forward from last year, making a total credit of £84. The two chief items on the receipts being — Donations, £41 18s; gates, £22 9s 7d, exclusive of members' tickets, amounting to £7. The meeting voted £78 as half the cost for procuring a half interest in the Cricket Club's ground. £66 of this amount is promised by subscription, £33 of which is now in hand, and the Secretary is to try and get the balance in as soon as possible. Several were nominated as trustees for the Sports Club's interest in the ground, and the ballot resulted in Messrs Harden and Hammond being elected. It was also resolved to pay in all moneys available to the Cricket Club Fund on loan until the deed of trust is completed. I hear two properties have changed hands up this way lately, Messrs Smith and Morgesson having taken over Mr J. T. W. Hogg's place and Mr Beeves Mr R. Burnes' place. The departure of the latter gentleman from the district will be very much regretted, as he is one of the oldest and most respected settlers here. He had been Chairman of the School Committee for some years, and at all things got up for the benefit of the place he has always been there to assist with his presence, and to do his share towards them. It is very noticeable that the carpenters and paperhangers are very busy just now, and our little township is gradually extending its borders. Our enterprising and popular host of the Family and Commercial Hotel has purchased a section adjoining Mr Fanthorpe's shop, with the object of building a Town Hall at his own expense. Judging from the thorough way in which he goes into everything else, we may expect a building thai will be a credit to the town. The parfcy who left here for a fresh air trip to the mountains arrived home three days after, and reported in a very mournful way, " Microbes all gone, and enough mountain air in stock and to spare to see them through their three-score years and ten." _____
