VICTORIAN FACTORIES COMMISSION.

« Telegraph. Press Association. Copyigbt Wellington, April 10. Giving evidence before the Victorian Factories Commission, Hon J. Rigg, M.L.C., Messrs Vaughan, Crewesand Orr generally favoured the working of the present legislation, though it was admitted minor amendments were necessary. They all supported the Conciliation Boards being retained. R. M. Tolhurst, City Councillor, said he looked upon the Boards as a farce, the members being more concerned with fees due them than anything else It was in his opinion pernicious for one man to be secretary of a number of different Unions, for he than became an agitator pure and simple. Members of the Commission were welcomed to the city by the Mayor during the afternoon.
