Messrs Nolan Tonks and Co., Hawera, report : — We held our usual fortnightly sale at Eltham on Tuesday last. There was a fair muster of cattle. Bidding was good, and nearly all lines were sold before leaving the yards. At Hawera on Thursday, we had a good entry. The attendance was large, bidding being spirited, throughout the sale. The purebred Polled Angus cattle, on account of Mr J. F. McGregor, did not sell up to expectations considering their quality and breeding. We quote : — At Eltham — Merinos, mixed, 80s to 32s 6d ; yearlings, steers, £2 5s to £2 10s; calves, 20s to 225; 2$ to 3-year heifers, in calf, £4 to £4 ss ; springing heifers, £5 ; store cows, £3 10s to £3 15s ; fat cows, £4 5s to £4 15s. At Hawera — Weaners 32s to 87s 6d ; mixed, 18 months old, £3 Is ; 18-month steers, £3 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d ; 2-year steers, £4 ; 2^year-old, £4 10s to £4 15s ; 3-year old steers, £5 7s 6d to 5 10s ; fat cows, £4 12s 6d to £5; forward cows, £4; store cows, £3 10s to £3 12s 6d ; heifers in calf, £4 5s to £4 12s ; springing heifers, £5. Sheep Ewes in lamb (on account of Mr J. Livingstone) 12s 8d ; ewes in lamb, 13s to 13s 3d; woolly lambs, 10s 6d. Polled Angus cattle (on account of J. F. McGregor).
