RAILWAY DANGERS.
To stand on the platform of a railway carriage appears to possess a singular charm for some individuals, and so powerful is the attraction that they are quite indifferent as to the amount of inconvenience they may cause, or the possible danger they may be to the travellers who wish to take their seats in a carriage. A case in in point occurred on Saturday night. When the 8.20 train was leaving the Feilding station for Falmerston, a man attempted to get on to the platform of a carriage, but as that was crowded with people at the time he could not get a footing, with the result that he was thrown back, and had it not been for the presence of mind of some persons standing on the station platform, the man would have fallen beneath the carriages and heen either killed or maimed for life. The only remedy is for the train not to be started until the carriage platforms are cleared, and the passengers ' seated in the carriages.
