Wanganui Education Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the aboye body was held yesterday when there were present— Messrs Q. S. Bridge (Chairmam), 6. C. Bobbins, F. M. Spurdle, R. A. Adams, W. T. Wood, F. Pirani, and Rev J. Ross. The Board went into committee to consider appointments and other business. On resuming, the r sport of the business transacted in committee was adopted. Pohangina— Mr J. M. Murdooh'a appointment was confirmed. Karewarewa — Appointment of Mr L. W. Basfiett confirmed. Sick Leave— Leave of absence on account of sickness was grafted to Misses Lynch (Colyton) and Richardson (Kira bolton). Pupil Teachers' Salaries— ln accordance with notice, the chairman moved that from October Ist pupil teachers be paid on the new scale, aad that the allowance to pupil teachers living away from home be £20, £16, £12 and £10 per annum for the 4sh, 3rd, !2nd and Ist classes respectively. The motion was seconded by Mr Pirani and carried. Raogiwaaia— A sum of money was granted for fencing, draining and painting the shelter shed. Drill Instruction — It wan resolved to make application to the Government for the services of a drill iostruotor to give instructions to teachers at Pclmerston N., Wanganui and Hawera. The Government give free railway passes to teaehera travelling to these drill instruction classes. Glen Orona— ln connection with so application for the establishment of a school at Glen Oroua, it was resolved that Mr Wood make enquiries concerning the possibility of bavins? the children conveyed to and from some of the neighbouring schools. Absences of Teachers— lt was resolved that teachers attending College aod University examinations ,be granted leave of absence without suffering loss of
