Pollard's Opera Company.
Playgoers will be pleased to learn that this popular combination is about to visit us once more. The opening night ia fixed for Tueslay next, and the season is limited to two nights. As usual Mr Pollard returns with everything new, and with a largely in- J creased company. The opening attrac- j tion will be the long expected comic < opera " The Geisha," which has been 1 the theatrical sensation of modern titnos. It will be staged here with all the original scenery, wardrobe, and ! effects, ns used in the Australian cities. ! A feature of the production will be the first appearance here of several artistes , whose names are favourably known on the English and Australian stages. Miss Jennie Opie is an Australian actress and vocalist who has been for years with " The Firm." Mr William Paull needs no introduction to play goers. It is sufficient to say that he was a member of the famous Carl Rosa Opera Company, and for years sang the principal baritone roles. He came to the colony as a member of the Madame Aibani Concert Company, and was induced to remain by Mr J C Williamson at the largest salary ever offered to any comic opera artist. For the last two years h6 has been a member of " The Firm's " Opera Company, as principal baritone, and is an immense favorite in the Australian c ntres Miss Gertie Campion is a charming soubrette and dancer, who has made an immense hit everywhere. On Wednesday nigbt we aro pronrsed the merry musical comedy " The French Maid," which conta nu such favourite songs as " Sons of the Sea," and " I 'appened to be there."
