London, November 29 A portion of the New Zealand troops has started for De Aar. Capetown, November 29. Heavy firing from a kopje compelled the 9fch Lancers to return to Grass Pan, north of Belmonfc. In the fight the Yorkshire regiment had 7 killed and 40 wounded. The North Lancashires 1 killed and 19 wounded. Tho Lancers, 1 killed and 8 wounded. Among other regiments there were ten casualties. London November 29. Tbe Daily Chronicle that a detachment of the New South Wales Lancers, under Lieut. Osborne, killed several rebeaiiug Boers. Trooper Byrne, of the New Solita Wales Corps, is missing. The Emperor of Germany has made a gift of L3OO in aid of tbe families of the men killed belonging to the First Dragoon Guards, of which he is honorary colonel. Sir Edward Clarke will not seek reelection for Plymouth, fearing that bis speeches in reference to the war will imperil his seat. In consequence of the great loss of officers in South Africa it has become necessary to make further appointments, and forty of the senior cadets in the Royal Military CoPege at Sandhurst are to be given commissions immediately.
