Fielding JC. Spring Meeting.

The spring race meeting under the mspices of cf tbe Feilding Jockey Club sotumeaced to-day and will be continued to-morrow. The weather this morning was overcast and threatened rain, but as the day advanced the clouds disappeared, There is a good attendance and every probability that the meeting throughout will be a great success. Osborne and Gowrie led from the start, but the latter soon took up the running and won rather easily by about two lengths. Time, lmin 17 3-Dth sees. Totalisator, L.516. Dividend, L 2 19s. Westguard was left at the post. Passing the stand for the first time Sudor (who gave a lot of trouble at the post), King's Guard, Handy Boy, and Ika led in the order named. Going round the back of the course Silverloclv, I'unui -anti Fiona improved their positions, and the former going to the front led into the straight and after a closely contested finish secured the judge's verdict by a short length. Dividend, L 7 14s. fcT Andrews Handicap,, of 200 soys, second horse to receive 25 soys from tbe stakes, third horse to receive 10 soys from the stakes ; 1J miles. Mr J. George's Crusoe, 8-8 (J.
