Canterbury Earn and Ewe Fair.
The Christchurch ram and ewe fair was concluded last Saturday. The attendance was very small and business extremely dull. Many Southdown and Shropshire Down sheep had been sold privately the previous day. There was very moderate competition for the Downs which were submitted, and most of the Rales were effected b} 7 private bargain. A few of the unsold portions of lines offered on the previqns day were sold privately at current prices, but for a good many , especially Border Leicesters, not even half a guinea could be obtained, and for some of these the best offer that conld be obtained from buyers was accepted. A few stud rama sold at prices Wfll within their value, but the greater numbor were passed either without a bid or at oilers of flock prices. No owes were sold. The prin\ cipal sales were : — Flock Shropshire rams for Mr K. Parry. Timarn, 16.Jgns , logos and 12gn8 ; stud English Leicester rams for Mr Donald Grant, Temuka, 2LVgag, 21gns and loigns and for Mr F. C. Murray one at llgns ; Lincoln stud rams, for Mr F. Sutton 26gne, for Mr /. S. Holmes 32gns, logos, for MrE. Menlove 20gns ; Stud Shropshire Down ram, for Mr G. P. Pudley, 20gns.
