Messrs Abraham and Williams report :— Tbe entry of stock at Pohangina on Tuesday was practically confined to cattle. There was a fair .yarding. Bidding at first was fairly good but it declined to nothing as it became evident vendors' prices were in excess of buyers' ideas of value. Ultimately the bulk was disposed of privately. Cattle, 3 year steers to £3 10s ; 2- year do., 42 17b 6d ; 2£ to 3year do., £3 2s 6d ; forward bullocks £4 78 6(1 ; others, £4; yearlings, 27a; weaners, 21s; 18 months to 2^-year heifers, 37a 6d ; Fat cows, £3 19a 6d. Sheep, shorn 2-tooth wethers, 5s 7d. At Paltnerston yesterday an average supply of stock came forward. Cattle were rather slow of sale and prices for young sorts ruled lower than of late. Sheep in moderate inquiry. A fair proportion was sold. We had enquiries for good wethers but the price asked is rather above buyers' estimates. Sheep — forward wethers, good quality and condition, made lls lOd in the wool ; fat ewes, 5a 9d to 6s 2d ; others, 5s 6d; Bhorn store wethers, 6s 7d to 7s 2d ; breeding ewes with small parceotagd of lambs, 9s 6d; others, 8b 6d ; cattle, fat bullocks, medium sorts, £5 7s 6d ; Btore cows, £3 ; fat cows, j£4 ; yearling heifers, 30s ; mixed weaners, 20s to 22s ; cows in calf, £2 to £3 2s 6d ; heifers, £3 17 6d ; wellbred Sbortborn bulls, 2-year-old, £5 10s to £5 12s 6d. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co's Wanganui stock report: — Biddiing for cattle at our St. Hill Street sale was very dull ; nearly all the cattle had to be turned out unsold. Sheep were well competed for, and we cleared oat all that came forward at satisfactory prices. Pigs were not so brisk as at the previous sale. We sold all out. Sheep— Forward wethers in wool, 13s lid ; fat shorn wethers, 6a to 8s 5d ; fat ewes, 7s Id to 10s sd ; woolly hoggets. 8s 7d. Pigs— Good porkers, 15s 3d to 16s 9d, others, 13s to 14s ; small pigs, 89 6d. Poultry— Fowls 2s 6d to ss, ducks 3s to 4s the couple.
