At the meeting of the Dairy Awooiation at Hawera on Friday last, the delegates met the chief dairy expert, Mr McEwan, and dealt with several matters of interest to settlers. It was decided to approve of a system of branding butter boxes recommended in which the letters are printed on the wool. The advisability of having a uniform-sized butter box was con* sidered, and an oblong box, to contain j stilbs, was agreed to. For cheese, the delegates decided that cases be twelvesided, hooped round. In regard to grading it was agreed that it was dosirable that no batter other than the first grade of each description of butter be frozen free. In the course of discussion, Mr McEwan advocated the opening of dairy schools and ex* pcrimental stations, and the compulsory aeration of milk. He said that the Government dairy instructors were, prepared to stay two or three days at factories where their services were appreciated, bat he had sometimes gone to factories where his services v ere not wanted for more than two or three hoars. — Standard.
