Tbe Brunner relief committee has passed a resolution to hand tbe money to the Public Trustee, and ask the Premier to arrange for free administration of the fund, as one per cent., as estimated by the Public Trustee, would absorb too large a proportion of the fund. Dunkdin Mny 27. The Trustees of the Benevolent Institution to-day considered the case of a woman who, while receiving relief, was alleged to have withdrawn money from the Post Office* Savings Bank. It was stated that enqniries from tho Chief Postmaster, the secretary to the department, and the Post-master-General were fruitless, as each refused to divulge information of banking business. The Trustees instructed the chairman to consult the solicitors, and, if so advised, prosecute the woman. At the Police Court Ah Kum, alias Gum Git, was committed for trial on a second charge of immorality. James Mollison, draper, was fined 50s and costs to-day on three charges of employing girls on Saturday afternoon. Napier, May 28. Mr W. \. Thomson, of the Oamaru Rovers' Cycling Club, who left this towu < at 10 o'clock last night with tbe intention of breaking the Napier-Wellington road record, had to give iv at Waipukurau, where the chain of his machine snapped. He had then a quarter of an hour to spare on the present record time. Mr Thomson starts again at 3 p.m.
