A Diabolical Outrage.
THE EXPLOSION IN A CATHOLU PBESBYTEBY. Melbourne, May 9. A diabolical outrage was perpetrated at the Roman Catholic Pr«>sb\tery at York (W.A ), at 230 on Thursday morning. Three charges of dynamite were exploded in different parts of the build. ng surrounding the bedroom occupied by Father Gibney. A number of bricks aud a quantity of plaster fell into his room, and he was much braised a>>out the head and face. His injuries, Lowever, are not serious. The damago d ne to the building aDd household effects was yery great the building leing reduced almost to ruin*. Father Gibney was the sole occupier of the house at ihe time. His valuable library was covered with debris a«d considerably damaged. Th« whole of the Deiirbbourh.-o i felt the shock caused by ihe explosion, residents close at hand j being alm>st thrown out of their beds Father Gibney, who was much affocted by the shock, l* a brother of the Catholic Bishop of Peitb, and one of ibe most popular men in the colony.
