The Matabele War

THE KING'S POWER BROKEN. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Capetown, November 24. Dr J ameson reports that the Matabele are completely broken up, and that King Lobengula with a few of his followers is endeavouring to escape northwards across the Zambesi, but his capture is regarded as certain. Dr Jameson declares that Major Adams' column would have met with inevitable disaster had not the Com* pacy's forces been sent to his assistance. Dr Jameson hopes to be able to disband his forces next week. He intends to disarm the Matabelo and settle them in the North and NorthWest, giving tbe headmen sufficient cattle for their subsistence. It is unknown whether Jameson is acting apart from Sir H. Loch. London, November 24 A report has been circulated by Dnlziell'a Agency that Lobengula .was captnred, but no confirmation has been received.
