Manawatu Racing Club

The annual meeting of the above Club was held at the Commercial Hotel, Palmerston, yesterday evenirlg. There was a large attendance of members, and the President, Mr G. M. Snelsoii, w«& in the chair. The Secretary read the annual report as follows :— The membership roll is now 132, an increase of 41 over the previous year. The sum of £1721 has been spent m improvements. The Stookboy-Badger case is not yet finished, and comes up for consideration at the next sitting of the District Court. The balance-sheet showed total receipts amounting to £3462 2s 4d, the principle items being — Totalisator commission, £1652 10s 8d ; members' subscriptions, £147 ; proceeds of privileges, £680 ; nominations and acceptances, £491 10s; guarantors account, £500. The erpen. diture included:— Stakes paid, £1485; improvements on raoecoursa r £584 4a lQd; salaries £206 ; Government tax v £230 11s 7d; Bank interest, £s2 18s lOd} 1 Bank overdraft paid off, £572 4s lOd,; andother sundry items amounting to £881 2s Bd, which brought up the expenditure to £3492 28 4d. .
