Tho match Feilding versus Hunterville played at Hunterville last Saturday wa* something to be remembered b,y all those who took part in the proceedings. The Feilding team left here by the enrly morning train, and arrived in Hnnterville to all appearances in very good time considering the amount of snowballing that went on at Murton and Rata, which, by the way, seemed to be carried 0 l with a great deal more zest than the mafc'i, which started at 3 o'clock. The ground was in a state quite beyond description, the mud and slnsh bein? about 6 inches deep on the best part, and from a foot to ihree feet in the worst, in one of which places friend and foo met iv single combat with the leather between them, and they were instantly lost to view. When they came to the surface, a>;ain and once more reached terra firma, they were right pitiful to behold, but nevertheless went on with the game as unconcerned as possible. There was no doubt about the Hunterville team being at home on their own ground, and Cameron, who p)ay&il a splendid game for his side, succeeded in crossing the line twice. Both tries were converted by Pawson and two more tries were obtained by the Hunterville men in the first spell, then came ihe Feildings turn to score, Soon after the kick off B. Whisksr scored for the vis itorsand Keen had a shot at goal, but failed in the attempt. At the kick out Hunterville rushed th© ball down and scored again, which ended the game, giving a decided win to the local men, the scores standing Hunterville 16, Feilding 2. After the match the visitors were treated most hospitably by their victors, and sent away in high spirits by the six o'clock train, arriving in Feilding at a quarter past eight. The Pirates and Kiakaha was also an interesting game, victory ultimately rest ing with the Pirates by 3 points to nil.
