Government Land Mismanagement

* In our correspondence column to-day, Mr W. T. Ward, who is a member of the Kiwitea Road Board, has an interesting letter, in which he shows how ridiculous is the system of management which obtains under the existing regime, of which Mr Richardsou the Minister of Lands, is such an admirer. We have not the slightest doubt there are scores of other settlers who have been treated with the same want of consideration. It will be seen that actually Mr Ward has been made to pay twice for surveys of a part of his land. To this day, although Mr Ward paid for the work two years and a half ago, the survey work undertaken by the Department on his behalf, remains uncompleted.
