It is not often that a sailing vessel accomplishes the passage from Hobart to Newcastle in the space of four days, but with favourable winds' and clever seamanship the ship S. F. Hersey has done it. The Hersey is not by any means a modern clipper, but she has lines which indicate speed, and the present passage has demonstrated that" with a good breeze of wind behind her she is quite up to Baltimore record. Captain W. J. Wilson, her skipper, has not spared the old ship on this voyage across the Straits, and when the ship's anchor chain rattled through the hawser pipes into the waters of Newcastle harbour, but 96 hours had elapsed since she was unmoored from Dunn-street Pier, Hobart. — Tasrnanian News.
