Rangitikei Election
Mr Macarthur will address the electors at Bunnythorpe on Monday next at 8 p.m., in the schoolhouse. Mr Arkwright will address the electors at Mrs Brown's woolshed, Harbor Board Block, on Tuesday November 25th, 1890, at 7.30 p.m. Mr Macarthur addressed about 150 of the electors at Ashurst on Thursday night. He secured an unanimous vote of thanks. Mr Macarthur had a good meeting at Kiwitea last night. Mr C. P. Church occupied the chair. There were about fifty electors present. The candidate spoke for a little over an hour on the lines of his speech in Feilding. Questions were asked as to whether Mr Macarthur meant to say that Mr Arkwright fayoured Henry George's Single Tax proposals, to which an answer was given m the affirmative, in so far that Mr Macarthur said that Mr Arkwright favoured a tax on the unimproved value of the land. Other questions as to tbe candidate's views with regard to a progressive acreage tax, and on education having been answered, a vote of thanks to Mr Macarthur that was proposed by Mr B. Mcßeth, and seconded by Mr A. Ferry was carried. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
