THE MANCHESTER STREET PROPOSED DEVIATION.

TO THE KDITOn OF THE STAR. Sir, — I have not seen a plan of this deviation, but if it is the intention, as I understand it is, to block up, at Manchester Square, the centre of the main straight highway through the town, I must, with due deference to the Borough Council, strongly protest against such an act of vandalism, although, situated as my office La, it would probably benefit me individually. I" do not know the views of the convener of the public meeting to discuss thi9 question, to be held on Friday evening nest, but I trust there will be some in attendance who will support me in this protest; my state of health, unfortunately, will prevent me being present. — I am, &c. -Saml Goodbeherb.
