LOCHNAGAR (B.) v BY "The Painter" (b.) (Sire of Fame, Lady Artist, Wairuareka, Orlando, Oddfellow, Qermaine, Denbigh, Chemist. Lochnagar, like his celebrated Sire, is a Dark Brown Horse with black points, stands about 16 hands, any amount of bone and substance, and very good tempered. For several Seasons he performed successfully in the Nelson District, both on the flat and over hurdles, his last performances being on last New Year's Day. when he won the Motueka Hurdles, carrying the top weight list 21b, and the Motueka Cup, also top weight, 9st 2lbs. He stood one Season at the Stud, viz : in 1887, the result being a very promising lot of youngsters. As will be seen by his tabulated pedigree, Lochnagar shows a powerful combination of stout winning strains, notably The Marquis, Stoekwell, The Baron, Irish Birdcatcher, Cinizelli, Touchstone, Pocahonlas, Melbourne, Glencoe; Bay Middleton, Fisherman, Emelius, Flying Dulchman, The Colonel, Whalebone, Waxy, Pot Bos., Eclipse, &c. The Proprietors confidently expect to see (his grandly bred son of The Painter as worthily represent his Sire at the Stud, as their other great horse Somnus has done to perpetuate the name of the mighty Traducer.
