Death of Captain Page
The condition of Captain Page of the Wellington Fire Brigade, was considered critical all day yesterday, and this morning we have with regret to announce that his death took place at the Hospital last night about 11 o'clock, from typhoid fevw. Captain Page was about 46 years of age, and was an engineer by profession. He had been a resident of the Colony for several years. He was at one tiuie iv the employ of the London Fire Brigade, and it is stateJ that he was sent by Captain Shaw to Paris to inspect and report upon the fire brigades in that city. During Captain Page's residence in this city he was overseer of works for the Tramway Company during the time that steam motors were used. Re was also engaged in connection with the work of the reclamation. He was appointed captain of the Fire Brigade about three yearn ago. The Brigade Use in him a very able and efficient officer. He was of a most courteous deposition, and his frank nature made him man y friends. He leayea a widow and eight children — NZ» Times.
