beuteb's teleobams. Melboubne, July 4. The debate on the resolutions! of the Sydney Convention was resumed in the Assembly last evening. The discussion continued till midnight, when Mr Bowen moved an adjournment. The House con • tinued sitting till five this morning, when the Opposition collapsed, and the resolutions were put and carried. 1 here is and increasing belief that the disease now prevalent here is small-pox, though the medical men are still unable j to decide definitely on the point. Mr Berry, as Postmaster- General, has ordered the detention of letters addressed to advertisers of sweeps on the Melbourne Cup whose advertisement is published, as from Dunedin.
