They managed, however, to get the flames » under before the whole building had been destroyed, and prevented it spreading to an adjoining block. I A man named Thomas Kilroy, who was , sleeping in one of the rooms, was suffocated, and his body found after the fir , slightly charred. He appeared to have been dazed by the smoke, as he was * fouud on his hands and knees on the . floor. He could easily have escaped, otherwise.
