Five of the Australian colonies, and not four, as stated in this morning's telegram, liftre signified their willingness to contribute towards the cost of maintaining the extension of British rule in the Western Pacific. Adelaide, July 2. In the House of Assembly last night, Mr Colton, Premier and Colonial Treasurer, made a statement in which he announced that the budget shows a deficit of £393,000, and that it was the intention of the Government to propose the imposition of a land tax and income tax. Bbisbake, This Day. The Queensland revenue for last quarter amount* to £697.' *00, an increase of £'25,500 compared with the June quarter ot last year. Melboubne, This Day. Arrived, this morning, from the Bluff, the steamer Manipcuri. Mr VI jrama, in the Legislative Assembly has decided to move an amendment to the resolutions of the Sydney Convention with the object of restraining the proposed Federal Council from legislating on the colonial tariff question. The debate on the resolutions stands further adjourned. All the Australian Governments except New Zealand have replied favorably to the proposal to guarantee £15,000 for the expense attaching to the extension of British rule in the Pacific. The reply or the New South Wales Government, though favorable, was not quite definite. In the Legislative Assembly last night the Bill providing for the amalgamation of the legal professions was agreed to on division by 50 to 6.
