CHRISTMAS DISPLAYS.

i HENRY RUTHKR. ORD I Had a fine display of prime beef from Mr F. Bryce's farm, at Kiwitea, lamb and I mutton frcm Mr T. Henson, of Sandon, veal fr. .m Mr Baker, at Makino, pork of Mr Rutherford's own feeding. The shop was prettily decorated and made a good show. The splendid collection of evergreens and flowers that wore prettily displaj-ed, came from Mr Worsfold 's Nursery. E. B. GTCHARD Shewed some line beef grown by Mr Cameron, at Awahuri, mutton from Mr Larkworthy's run, at Carnarvon, and lamb from" Mr Holdcn, at Makino, real from Mr B:ikcr, Makino. Some splendid geese, turkeys, fowls ducks, and sncking pigs neatly dressed, and some fine rabbi's prepared by Mr Blackmore, all i looked very tempting. The shop was well lighted and exhibited the various vpircs to great advantage. WM. WHISKER'S Shop also showed good signs of careful ;>ivj.'-:r:itions for Christmas cheer. The meat of all kinds was of the bust descJip-ti-m, grown for the most part by ]\fr Wli-sker ou liis farm. Tho beef deserves sp.vial commendation, as also the '' small g.**>.l-;'" wl-i.-h were admirably prepared aud very tempting. GLASGOW HOU-vE Was- prettily dec-orated with nikau palms ferns, .tc, and the drapery goods were well placed in the windows. MR POLLOCK Had a beautiful show of confectionery, Christmas cakes and sweets of all kinds. The cakes wore beautifully decorated and frosted, proving the skill of Mr Pollock as an artist, and his taste as a confectioner. Mr CARTHEW. The display of toys, musical instruments, music, Chinese lanterns, i hristmas cards, Jcc, were so numerous and so interesting that it is impossible for us to attempt to give the slightest detailed description of them, besides the crowd of delighted youngsters who thronged the shop and crowded round its windows made it difficult for our reporter to do more than see that the attractions were all absorbing to the juvenile mind. MR COTTRELL, Draper and clothier, o' Manchesterstreet, had a fine .show of all descriptions of millinery and wearing apparel, /-all of which he was offering al greatly reduced prices. MR JAMES WHISKER Had one lamb whieh weighed s*l lbs and some fine mutton, all of his own feeding, together with some prime beef fed by Mr W. Bailey. MR HAYBIT CLE'S Ready Money Store, Fergusson-street, was well stocked and business there seemed pretty lively. R. WARD AND CO. From Wanganui, who have just opened up a sale in Mr Nathan's old store had a full display of drapery, clothing, and fancy goods, all offering apparently at low prices. MR MAN I 'EL'S Shop in Fergusson street was stocked with every conceivable article in the tobacco and cigar line, musical instruments, stationery, perfumery, and fancy goods, and also some line' oil-paintings and chromographs. MR LOUDON'S Large stock of general drapery, clothing, etc., was not arranged for display, which wc understand will be done in readiness for this evening. MR LEWERS Had an nnusually large stock of general merchandise, especially in the drapery and clothing lines, and thc prices appeared such as were likely to attract a good number of customers. MR YOUNG, Fruiterer, &c, had every kind of vegetables, fruit, confectionery, cordials, and other good things in great profusion and variety.
