A PUBLIC BATH.

O Till: EI'ITOK OP THE -EILDING STAR. Sik, — Some time ago a letter signed 'Aqua" appeared in your columns, in vhich a swimming bath for Feilding was visely suggested. Nothing, however, lecins to have been done. Now, sir, as he Star always shines benignenlly on ;very good local movement, kindly ..How ne its use in bringing this matter -gain :n the fore. Perhaps no town in this part oi the colony goes in more for manly out' door recreations than our own, and yet we are behind some our sister town-hips in the matter of providing the menus oi indulging in the noble, health-giving, an J highly desirable practice of swimming, and bathing. Bulls has already got its bathing club, and I see that very properly provision is to be made for the mermaids as well as the stronger sex. Palmerston, too, is taking steps to establish a first-rate swimming bath. Surely there is no reason why something of the kind should not be done in Feilding Nothing is more refreshing, invigorating, and enjoyable after the enervating hen of a summer's day, or as a morning preparation for it than a good bath, whi; nothing is more desirable than tbat a should have the opportunity of learniu. the graceful, manly, and life-saving v.i of swimming. Why then should Feilc: ing, with all its other excellent institi: tions, be without its bathing place am swimming club? If, sir, you would kindl, lend the aid of your able pen to th suggestion I believe the thing would soo be done. I could say much more on th: subject, but a fear of trespassing on you valuable space forbids. — I am, &c, Swimmee.
