MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

The annual meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chamber, Foxton, on Wednesday last Present — Crs .Koelifltrow (in the chair), Hadfield, Bruce, Sanson, Yl«Beth, Linton, McLenuan, <Gray, and Fry. Cr Fry took his seat for the first time Ms one of thp members of the Manchester Siding. The first business, according to the Act, being to elect a Chairman, it was ; resolved, on the motion of ; 'Cr McLennan, seconded by Cr Sanson,: that Ci Itockstrow be appointed Chair- , man for the ensuing year. The newly-elected Chairman ia a few appropriate remarks thanked the Council for the honor conferred upon him, and hoped he would be able to discharge his •duties with mutual pleasure and satisfaction. The minutes of the last meeting were xead and confirmed. The following report of the committee Appointed to arrange for the collection of fates was read and adopted That the Clerk of the Council be appointed collector from 6th December, 1882, and that he shall visit Otaki, Palanerston, Feilding, Ifrilcombe, Sanson. and Cuinpbfclltown once in each .financial .year, and notify .fcue .-sa.u>e in the papers.
