THE OROUA FOOT-BRIDGE.

Some months ago the Hon W. Johnston, Minister for Public Works, promised J. G. Wilson, Esq., M.H.R., that a foot- > bridge would be erected alongside the railway bridge over the Oroua River at Aorangi. From a variety of circumstances this very desirable work has been left undone. We are glad to see, however, that it has not been forgotten. We learn from Mr Cuakles Bull, who has been in communication with Mr Wilson on the subject, that the Minister for Public Works will shortly have the work put in hand. All that is needed will be a few " gentle reminders " from the settlers, from time to time, in order to have the bridge completed before the ensuing winter. It would be desirable and greatly conducive to the interests of the settlers if a traffic bridge were erected, and made suitable for both foot passengers and vehicles. The increasing population at Aorangi and Taonui fully demands this.
