WANGANUI PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

-+ The annual show of this Association was hold on the racecourse on Thursday, and was well attended, there being upwards of 1,500 people on the ground. The City Rifles band was present, and played some well-selected music. The judges were highly spoken of or their impartial and, careful awards. Ihe financial success is not so marked as it was last year, owing to the reduction in the charges for admittance not being recouped by the extra attendance. For draught stock, Mr W. CFaig was awarded champion prize for ' the stallion, Sir Robert Jjruce. The first and second prizes for draught mares-, four years old, first and champion prize for Clydesdale mnre, and first prize for entire colt, were also awarded to Mr ' raig, who is said (o be the owner of the finest draught stock in the district. The exhibits of thoroughbred stock were very poor, with the exception of covering stallions. Miss Imlay was awarded first prize for ladies' hack. This lady was also awarded first prize vfor best carriage horse. The hunter's competition was very exciting. The quality of the exhibits of cattle was considered superior to last year. Tu^sheep exhibits were superior to last yeaV in respect to weight and quality of. wool. The other exhibits do not call for any special mention. The attendance at the "Wanganui Spring Meeting- yesterday, was good. No less than £2,024 passed through the two totalisators. Following are names of the winning , Jioraeg .: -Maiden Plate, Last Chance ; Handicap Hurdle Race, Ngata; Hack" Hurdle Race, Hinu ; Wangartui Stakes Handicap, Tally Ho ; Railway i'late, Hippodamia; Consolatiuu Race, Miuerv^ Up to time of going to press we had received no particulars of to-day's tiottiiig mutch at Wanganui.
