DEATH OF KENDALL.
SYDNEY. July 30. The annual University commemoration was held last night, in the presence of a brilliant assembly. The proceedings were unusually attractive. The new organ, which has been erected in the University Hall, was played for the first time on the occasion. August 1. The death is announced of Mr Henry Kendall, the well-known poet and author fr ->m Phthsis, aged 40 years.

August 1. Messrs C. S. Ross and Co. report that at their sale of kauri pine to-day hewn logs realised 14s per 100 feet, and sawn flitches 17s. Ihe market is weakening.
