THE RAILWAY RETURNS.

The Railway Traffic returns for the four weekly period ending May 27th, 1882, are now gazetted. The total receipts for the Wanganu section since the end of the financial year was £7941 7s Bd, as against £6860 15s 7d for the corresponding period last year. The receipts during May amount to £3614 7s 4d, as against £3099 Os 8d for corresponding period last year. There is an increase of expenditure from 5*3.67 per cent to 60.32 of receipts. We presume that the receipts for the period ending June 'Ylth will not show such favorable results, owing to the interruption to traffic from the recent floods.
