The teams will travel by bus on which seats have been arranged, leaving Dell’s corner al 1 p.m. PAIRS TOURNAMENT FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION FINALS The Franklin Bowling Associaliun A and R grade championship pairs tournnme.nl was finalised on the Pukekolie green on Saturday. The R grade final resulted: WPearl and Vi. Bell (Waiuku) 2-‘L heat R. Davies and .1. Kelly (Tuakau) 17. The A grade semi-finals resulted: L. Vincent and J. Pirrct. jnr (Tuakau) heal R. Barriball and L. Wrathall Waiuku) : R. R. Ridley and W. -I. Short (Pukekolie) heal E. 0. Williams and 11. .1. Short .(Buckland). The final between Tuakau and Pukekolie was productive of a stern si niggle and some nicely played heads. A feature of Hie game was Ihe splendid form shown by Ridley (Pukekolie) and Pirrel (Tuakau). The former outplayed Vincent while Pirrel had the edge on Short. The game see-sawed, each side taking the lead in turn but at the loth head Hie score was Short 14, Pirrct 17. On the 16th head Ridley planted a couple of beauties alongside the jack, but Pirrct drew a close one while Slmrl failed to alter the head. A very close Measure gave Short one. — In—--17. Ridley continued to oulbowl Vincent and when the skips went down RTfTTey held two. Short added Iwo more and Pirrel made attempts will] three running shots to dislur!) the boftjs. He missed each time.
The Turning Point With his lasi lie drew second shot. 16 —17. The JStli head proved the turning point in a grim struggle. Ridley maintained form by drawing lour all round the while.
