JANUARY BRIDE

AN UNUSUAL WEDDING RING SERVICE AT ST. DAVID’S BRISTOW—BLAIR POPULAR PUKEKOHE COUPLE A wedding of widespread interest was solemnised on January. 27 at St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Khyber Pass, Auckland, the Rev. F. E. H. Paton, of Pukekohc, officiating. The principals were Margaret, only daughter of Mrs M. M. Blair, Seddon Street, Pukekohe, and the late Mr Colin Blair, and Norman Raleigh, third son of Mr and Mrs G. Bristow, of Harrington Avenue, Pukekohe. The bride entered the church on the arm of her eldest brother, Mr W. Clough Blair (Merchant Navy) wearing a low-waisted frock of all-over lace and triple voile with a very full skirt and train.' She also wore lace mittens. Her embroidered veil was held in place with a spray of real orange blossom and maiden hair fern, and she carried a sheaf of gladioli, carnations, lily of the valley and begonia. The bridesmaids were Aliss Helen Smced. of Tuakau (chief) and Miss Rose Goflin, of Grey Lynn. Each wore a similar frock of toning green and pink royal cloque. with heartshaped neckline, low waist and full skirt, and each carried a sheaf of gladioli, begonia, and pom zinnias with matching flowers in their hair. All Trained Nurses The bride and bridesmaids are all medalists in the nursing profession. Tbe bridegroom' who bad not long returned from the Middle East, where be was wounded, was attended by Mr 11. B. Wood, of Pukekohe. recently returned from tbe Pacific, as best man, and Mr Neil'Stanion. of Aka Aka. who has been serving in the Aliddle East, as groomsman. The ushers at tbe church were Ross Blair and John Bristow, brothers of the bride and bridegroom respectively. While the Register was being signed Mr C. C. Irwin, of Puni, sang beautifully “I’ll Walk Reside You.”

After the service -130 guests attended a reception at the Domain Kiosk, where they were received by the bride's mother wearing n smartly cut blue suit with navy .accessories and a shoulder spray of pink carnations. She was assisted by tbe bridegroom’s mother who wore a navy frock relieved with white, and navy accessories, and a shoulder spray nf red roses.

The young couple received the felicitations of a wide circle of friends, which included telegrams from both Islands and three cablegrams from the combat zones, two from (lie Aliddle East- and one from the Pacific- “ The Boys Overseas”

Rallison. of Dannevirke. formerly of Pukekohe. and a number of returned servicemen who had been in action with the brideyroom. had accepted invitations to be present but could not attend owiny to the railwaymen's strike. However, a number of returned servicemen (Navy. Army and Air Force in uniform', friends of the brideyroom. were amony the guests. When Mr and Mrs Norman Bristow, well-known former sludeiils of Pukekohe Technical High School, left on a lour of the Norlli. Mrs Bristow was wearing a model green frock, fur coal and black accessories. Her weddiny riny was fashioned from a riny which belonged to llie hrideyroom's yreal yrandmollier and was embossed with orange blossoms.
