MR M. J. HATTON’S'DECISION

NOT SEEKING RE-ELECTION

Mr M. J. Hatton, sitting member for the Awhitu riding on the Franklin County Council, is not seeking reelection at the which are to take place this year. In a letter to the Graham’s Beach Settlers’ Association, Mr Hatton slates:—

“As it was the members of your association who sponsored my nomination as Awhitu riding member to the Franklin County Council, I think it fit and proper that it is to you I should make known that it is not my intention to accept nomination to this position at the forthcoming local body elections. ... 1 thank you very sincerely for your loyal support over the difficult period during which it has been my privilege to be your representative.”
