“.Admonishment by the court is a pure farce,’’ declared Mr Justice Blair in the Supreme Court, Wellington, whe,n sentencing two young men, already committed to Borstal, to a further term of 12 months on 10 charges of breaking and entering shops and offices. One of the accused had been before the court several times since he was 12 years old. Referring to a previous occasion when an admonishment had been administered, his Honour said it was a farcical arrangement, which continued to make criminals if they were not treated in a suitable way. .
