A GREAT RECORD

IN INTERESTS OF EDUCATION

MR JOHN PATTERSON

j 5 YEARS ON SCHOOL COMMITTEE

In reports of annual meetings of school committees, reference is very often made to the length of service of certain members in the interests of education, and some of the records are very imposing, but that of Mr .John Patterson, of Pukekohe, should lake some beating. A resident of Pukekohe for about half a century, Mr Patterson gained a seat on the local school committee 45 years ago, and has held it ever since. He was a member of the High School Board of Managers until a few years ago, occupying the position of chairman for several years. Mr Patterson has served for several terms on the Auckland Education Board, as representative of the West Ward, an office he now holds.

Mr Patterson, therefore, has devoted much of his lifetime in the service of education.
