“1 hereby state all the known facts 'regarding the Drury tire. was how the secretary of the brigade. Mr S. T. McAuliffe, commenced his letter to the Papakura Borough Council with reference to the letter from tin? Franklin County Council. "I personally was not present, but after making enquiries from the members of the brigade. il appears that they received a message by 'phone to allend a lire at Drury. The origin of the ’phone call is unknown. After reaching Drury Ihe lire was obviously under control and Ihe brigade rendered no assistance as its services were not required. They waited for a good ten minutes lo make sure that Ihe lire did not recur and then Ihe brigade left and returned lo Ihe slat ion. On arrival at the station they learned that some oilier unknown person had rung and cancelled the call for Ihe brigade but the brigade had left before the message cancelling the call arrived." It was decided to send a copy of the Idler lo the Franklin County Council, with a request to meet the bill.
