THE ROADING LOAN
WORKS IN HAND GOOD PROGRESS MADE TAB PRIMING THIS MONTH Reporting lo the Pukekohe Borough Council on Wednesday evening, the engineer, Mr F. 0. Turner, stated that owing lo Christmas and annual holidays, work in Ihe borough bad been curtailed somewhat. Mr Turner went on to discuss the progress being made under the reading loan. He said that the roads included in the loan schedule that had not yel received Ihe tar priming coat were Station Road, Prospect Terrace, Hall Slreel and Gape Hill Road. The topcourse metalling of these roads was now in hand and it was expected that further priming work would be undertaken before Ihe end of this month. Tobin Slreel: The tile drain to relieve the slorm-waler flooding at Ihe corner of this road had been installed and Ihe kerb quadnmls cut hack lo easier radius.
.lolm Street: 'The tile drain exlen sion hud now been provided but Ihe necessary tilling for Ihe old side drain would he provided as surplus spoils from other works became available. Paerala stream: Four men underlook Ihe clearing of this stream under a co-operative contract. The cost of Ihe work was based on last years contract but Ihe •> per rent increase in wages since I lion, was applied to Ihe contract amount. The work included in Ihe specifications was laithlully carried out. II is intended lo carry out Hie work by day labour next season when some snigging ol timber and removal of stone will he undei taken. Eastern slock route: the metalling of ihe clay section of Ibis road has been provided for in the estimates and as suitable plan! is now available Ibis work is now under construction. H is e.sl imated I hat the cost of Ihe 24 chains formation and metalling 12 feet wide will amount to £l3O including a £lO culvert item.
Concrete fool path: Work on Ihe Easl Street footpath was being confirmed and it is proposed to proceed with Hie John Slreel footpaths al an early date. The report was adopted.
