VALUE OF HOT FRUIT JUICES Ilot. drinks, especially those containing fruit juice, can be wonderful asistance in relieving colds and influenza, and if taken before going to bed, will often help to ensure a night’s rest. Here are some good ones: — Orange Nightcap Juice and rind of 1 large orange, 4 cloves, tin. stick cinnamon, 1 dessertspoon honey, \ pint hot water. Put the water in saucepan, add the rind, cloves and cinnamon and heat slowly. Simmer for three minutes and strain. Pour on to orange juice and honey, stir well and serve very hot just before retiring. Orange and Honey Drink One orange, 1 lemon, 1 tablespoon of honey, 12 drops essence of peppermint, or essence of ginger, 1 pint boiling water. Thinly peel the rind of half the lemon and half the orange, add to water and boil for two minutes, then add honey and stir till melted. ' -Squeeze and strain orange juice and lemon juice, add essence to taste and serve very hot. Linseed Tea One tablespoon whole linseed, \ lemon, 1 dessertspoon sugar, 1 pint boiling water. Wash linseed and put it into a well-heated jug. Add sugar and thinly-peeled rind and juice of \ lemon. Pour over £-pint freshly boiled water, cover and stand till cold. Then strain and reheat. Lemon and Barley Water Two ounces pearl barley, 1 quart cold water, 1 lemon, sugar to taste. Wash the barley and put into a saucepan, with the thinly-peeled rind of half the lemon. Cook slowly H hours, add more water if necessary. Add the lemon juice, strain and sweeten to taste and serve hot at bed-time. This is specially good for influenza cases and feverish colds.
