Bi-ennial Meetings of Householders

COMMITTEES ELECTED THE PUNI SCHOOL HEADMASTER’S REPORT The bi-ennial meetings of householders throughout the district were held on Wednesday evening. THE PUIMI SCHOOL There was a lair attendance at Puni. The. headmaster. Mr F. .1. Lownsborough, submitted a report on the year's work, in which he stated inter alia: — Sports: Each year Hie school has participated in the Franklin Primary Schools’ Athletic Sports and for the past two years lias gained tlie shield for runners-up and lias won the shield for school work in the Franklin show for seven years in succession. School cleaning': The system operating has proved most satisfactory. The pupils who sweep daily are provided with all stationery, and £5 per term is paid into sports funds. Grounds improvement : A bicycle shed has been erected but with the increase in the number of machines in use accommodation is insufficient. In February of last year a large portion of the playingarea around the school was sealed. The septic tank system was installed by the Education Board without local subsidy. Swimming: A large number of pupils have gained certificates and appreciation is * expressed to the Pukekohe Borough Council for the free use of the municipal baths. First aid: Twenty-two pupils- have gained certificates of proficiency in first aid and thanks are due to Miss Carder for her efforts in this direction, The roll number stands at 90.

Havill (secretary), Harrison, Henson and Paris. Paerata. —There was an attendance of eight householders at the bi-ennial meeting to elect a school committee ard fhc following were elected: Mr A E. B. Richardson (chairman), Mill Littlewood (secretary). Mrs John Sehlacpfer, Mr A. S. Pegler and Mr M. B. Knott. Paparata Committee The following were elected membois of the Paparata school commitlee on Wednesday: Messrs 0. W. Mace, (chairman). D. D. Conner., D. R. Walton, E. 0. Wells and N. Stuart I secretary).
