MEN AND MONEY
“EVERYBODY, SHUN” £IOO,OOO WANTED TO HELP OUR BOYS “Everybody, ’Shun.” What would you require if you were in the front line fighting to preserve democracy and civilisation? Reinforcements and comforts. Exactly. Men and money.
New Zealand has sent the first section of her second expeditionary force to Egypt; another echelon is in camp and a I bird is required to complete the Division which the Government promised to Britain at the outbreak of war. In addition to the Division reinforcements will be needed as soon as the hoys get into action for no one can fight without some casualties. Men ore required now, and with tne object of considering what steps are to L- taken to assist the recruiting campaign. a public meeting will ire held in the Masonic hall supper room, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday,. February 28. The attendance at the previous meeting was 15 out of a population of more than 2500. A big attendance is required—the bigger the belter, because a resolution passed at a well attended meeting will carry a lot of weight.
After obtaining the men to complete the army, the next tiling is to think of the comforts they need. It is tilY opinion of most returned soldiers, and they should know because of their •experience, that the Salvation Army and YUM.G.A. did xyonderful work for the soldiers in the last war. These two organisations combined are appealing for £IOO,OOO. Pukekohe is asked to form a citizens’ committee to assist in the joint, appeal for the welfare of our fighting forces. This question will'lle considered at the public meeting to be held on February 28. All with the interests of the boys at heart should attend this meeting.
