FUNDS ACCUMULATE ANOTHER CHEQUE RECEIVED MB MARKWICK’S QUESTION From time to time cheques being part of art union profits, are sent by the Minister of internal Affairs to the Papakura Borough Council to he spent in the relief of distress, a state ot affairs which does not exist in Papakura just at present. At. Monday’smeeting of the Papakura Borough Council a cheque for £7 came along and it was. as usual, handed to the Papakura Social Welfare League for distress purposes. Mr G. Markwick asked Hie Mayor if he could let < the council know what the accumulated funds were. The Mayor (Mr S. Evans) said they were about £SO. The funds were built up in the summer time, and were a nice little nest egg for any distress which came along in the winter.
