Excursion Train to Pukekohe
Particulars will be found in another column of the cheap excursion fares arid train arrangements made by the Railway Department in connection with the Franklin show at Pukekohe on February 17 and 18. “Learn-to-Swim” Campaign.
The efforts which are being made towards the success of the Dominionwide “Learn-to-Swim” campaign are illustrated hy the fact that nothing is being spared to teach the children. To every school pamphlets illustrating the official instruction method of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association have been circularised, and one will be given to each child. The pamphlet contains a message to the children’s parents and guardians, pointing out the ’ necessity for such a campaign, and requesting their co-op-eration. Celebrity Concert.
Jn connection with the Charles James complimentary concert in the Strand theatre on February 20, it is now possible to give some details of the artists who will be assisting Mr James to make the occasion one which no music lovers should miss. Besides Miss Doreen Saunders, the veil-known elocutionist, the following members of the Auckland Dorian Choir will be heard in solos, duets and trios: Mr L. Russell (tenor), Mr J. Ramsey *i hesso), Miss J. Glover (contralto), orm Miss J. Williams (soprano). As these are all professional artists of the highest standing it can be imagined what a treat is in store for musiclevers. In addition, Mrs Reed, yvho is the society accompanist, will play Pianoforte solos. -Another of great local interest is the Midgieys (Mr and Mrs) in their remarkable dual piano act. This will lie the first time they have performed together in Pukekohe at a public concert and it will b, a revelation to those who attend.
